ASL Airlines Ireland has taken delivery of its third Boeing 737-800(BDSF), further strengthening its partnership with DHL Aviation. The aircraft, now registered as EI-HRD, is a Boeing 737-86J(BDSF) with manufacturer serial number (MSN) 30498.
Previously operated by U.S. charter airline iAero Airways as N916SC, the aircraft was ferried from Marana, Arizona, to Shannon via Bangor, Maine, on 13–14 April 2025. It arrived in full DHL colours and is set to enter service imminently on European cargo routes.
According to Planespotters data, the aircraft first flew on 7 December 1999 and was delivered to Air Berlin (D-ABAV) later that month. In 2012, it was re-registered as EI-RUA and leased to Russia’s Transaero Airlines. Between 2017 and 2019, the aircraft underwent a freighter conversion at Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in Tel Aviv. During its conversion, it was re-registered as N9156SC under Spectre Air Capital before being leased to iAero Airways in May 2020. It was withdrawn from use in April 2024.
The Boeing 737-800BDSF is a popular choice among cargo operators for its advanced avionics suite, enhanced fuel efficiency, and reduced maintenance requirements compared to older narrowbody freighters.
