Emirates has announced a major expansion of its cabin retrofit programme, confirming that upgraded Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft will be deployed to eight additional cities in the coming months. The move is part of the airline’s multi-billion-dollar initiative to modernise its fleet and elevate the in-flight experience across all travel classes.
Emirates has now confirmed that, beginning in December, both of its daily services between Dublin and Dubai (EK161/2 and EK163/4) will feature aircraft with fully upgraded cabins. The move makes Dublin one of the first cities in the Emirates network to have both daily flights served exclusively by refurbished aircraft.
Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim, said “The latest rollout of refurbished Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s and new A350s offer more opportunities for customers in over 70 dynamic cities and growing economies to enjoy our latest generation premium onboard experience combined with our award-winning service. The redoubling of our refurbishment programme efforts means that by the end of this year, Emirates will have established itself as one of the preeminent industry leaders offering Premium Economy seats.
In the next two years, we will definitively cement our position as the industry leader in Premium Economy deployment. The scaling up of our Premium Economy offering strengthens our competitive proposition to travellers and makes it our strategic differentiator by offering them more choice as they increasingly seek premium travel experiences.”
Emirates is making rapid progress on its fleet retrofit programme, averaging just 22 days to complete upgrades on its Airbus A380s and 18 days for Boeing 777s. Each month, two aircraft emerge from the refurbishment line, either assigned to new destinations or enhancing existing routes with upgraded interiors.
Among the standout features of the upgraded Boeing 777 is a reconfigured Business Class cabin in a 1-2-1 layout, offering passengers increased privacy, direct aisle access, and more personal space to work or relax. For the first time on the Dublin–Dubai route, the retrofitted 777s will also introduce Emirates’ popular Premium Economy cabin, comprising 24 seats designed for enhanced comfort, along with 260 refreshed Economy Class seats.
